Seattle Action Center

Background:

CRY America Seattle Action Center, founded in 1998, is one of the oldest Action Centers of CRY in the United States. It is today comprised of more than a hundred enthusiastic volunteers, who are mostly professionals at Microsoft, Amazon.com and other companies in the area.

2007 was CRY America Seattle Action Center’s biggest and most eventful year yet. It saw the Action Center raising almost $425,000 through the fund-raising events it organized. CRY Idol, a singing contest sold out days in advance. Ina Mina Dika, a concert by the well-known Seattle band Shruti attracted an audience of more than 1300 over two packed shows, helping raise over $15000. Uphaar 2007(a benefit dinner and auction) helped raise over $180,000. My Fair Lady, a musical dance drama performed by local group Dreams was a huge success too. Other popular events this year included CRYcket and CRYvolley, CRY Seattle’s annual cricket and volleyball tournaments and a fun-filled evening of Dandia. CRY also partnered with local South Asian organization Tasveer to present Seattle’s 4th Independent South Asian Film Festival. CRY Seattle organized various events during Microsoft’s annual Giving Campaign including a Poker Tournament.

We have several exciting events and activities coming up in the next few months. Do check out the event details below if you are in the Seattle area.

Your involvement and support could make a difference to the lives of children... New volunteers are always welcome!

The team meets every Monday on the Microsoft campus.
