What are the competitions that CRY America is undertaking as part of "My Vision and dream for children" campaign?
CRY America is organizing competitions in the following categories Paint, Poem, Essay, statement/Sogan, Song/Jingle,

What are the competitions that CRY Seattle Chapter is undertaking as part of "My Vision and dream for children" campaign?
CRY America's Seattle Action Center has organized Painting and Essay writing competition in partnership with NFIA as
part of this campaign. It has also organized a short film competition in partnership with Tasveer. Check out details

When and where are the essay and painting competitions?
The two competitions will be held on 3rd Oct 2009 at Benjamin Franklin Elementary School in Kirkland.
The essay competition will be from 10:30am to 11:30am where as painting competition will be conducted from 1:00pm to 3:00pm.

What do I need to do to participate in the Essay and Painting Competition?
To participate, at first you need to register on the CRYAmerica website:
http://america.cry.org/myvisionforchildren/site/register.
Upon successful registration, you need to show up at the place of competition at the mentioned time along with your supplies.

Will the participants for competition be classified into categories?
There will be following categories for the competition:
Painting Categories:
- Adults
- Age 14-18
- Age 10-13
- Below age 10 (Non competitive. Each child will get a goody bag)
Essay Categories:
- Adults
- Age 14-18
- Age 10-13
Each category will have a 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize.
Exception to this is the kid’s category for painting which will be non-competitive and each participant will receive some gift.

Can I participate in both the essay and painting competition?
Of course you can. The essay competition is at 10:30 a.m and the painting competition is at 1:00 p.m on the 3rd Of Oct. The competitions are organized at different times just so that individuals can participate in both the competition if they wish to.

Whom am I competing with in these competitions?
There are two levels of essay and painting competition involved here. On 3rd Oct, you are competing with all the participants that will be present around you. This will be at CRY America's Seattle Action Center level. After the competition on the 3rd Oct, you are adviced to upload your painting and/or essay on CRY America's website and compete with others at the National level.

What will be the selection criteria for electing the winners of the competition?
Following factors will be considered in choosing the winners of the competition:
- Originality
- How well the concept relates to the theme
- Innovative and creative idea
- Clarity of theme
- Attractiveness (for paintings only)

Is there a registration fee for participating in any of the competitions?
There is no registration or any other fee to participate in this event but CRY America welcomes all sort of donations which will be directed towards supporting the cause of underprivileged children.

Do I have to get my own supplies for the competition?
You will be provided with only paper for painting and essay competitions. You are expected to get the rest, including the coloring medium of your choice for painting competition.

When will the results be declared and what are the prizes for the winners?
Winners of the competition will be announced and prizes will be distributed on the same day between
4:00 - 4:30 p.m. Each 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winner will be presented with a prize.
The 1st Prize winner will also receive a $25 Apna Bazar gift card from our sponsor – Apna Bazar.

What is the time allotted to the participants of each of the competition?
For essay competition the participants will have up to 1 hour and individuals can take a maximum of 2 hours to complete their painting during the competition.

Are there any rules applicable to Children's entries (10 to 18 yrs)?
- All Junior (10 - 13 yrs) and Teen (14 - 18 yrs) entries require parental consent.
- All registration/entry forms for Juniors and Teens will need to be approved and signed by a
parent/legal guardian of the child.

We seek minimum information about your child, limited to what is essential for this event – child’s name, age,
city of residence and event category.

For Juniors, all event related activities (registration, uploading, setting up “my event page” etc) will need to be
undertaken by the parent on behalf of the child.

What is medium of Essay Writing?
The medium of essay writing is English only.

What are the topics for the Painting and Essay competition?
The essay and painting topics are related to - "My Vision and Dream for Children". However, specific topics will be given on spot.

My child is participating and I am not . Can I be around at the venue or I have to drop my child off and come back to pick him / her up later?
Parents / Guardians can be around till the end or until the results are announced. We have made specific arrangements for them. Refreshments / Snacks will be provided.

I am planning to leave as soon as my child is done with his painting / essay writing and cannot wait until the results are announced. How do I know about the results ?
The results will be displayed later on the Cry Seattle website. If your child is one of the winner , you will be notified by Email / Phone as per the contact details you have provided at the time of registration.

Is there any limit on number of words in an Essay?
The maximum number of words in an essay is 600.
