On behalf of CRY Seattle, we would like to take this opportunity to invite you to Uphaar 2008 – our annual charity dinner.

CRY (Child Rights and You) America is a non-profit organization that works towards restoring basic rights - the right to survival, the right to development , the right to protection, the right to participation - to disadvantaged children. It has had a profound impact on the lives of over 1.5 million underprivileged children since its inception 27 years ago.

Uphaar means gift in Hindi and embodies the spirit of giving. It is a social evening that brings together prominent members of the Western Washington community in an affirmation of their commitment to the cause of child rights. Since 2004, Uphaar has helped raise over $430,000 for projects in India and the US. This has been possible only due to the unstinting support and encouragement of people like you. We hope to make Uphaar 2008 the most successful yet and would appreciate your support in this endeavor. You can participate as any of the following:

• As a table captain, you and your invited guests fill a table of 8. You champion CRY’s cause with your guests and encourage them to donate during the event. Your contribution of $1500 can support 3 non-formal education centers in India for a year.

• As an attendee, you socialize with patrons who share your passion for Child Rights, and learn more about CRY’s vision and achievements. Your contribution of $200 can support the formal education and healthcare for 7 children in India for a year.

We recognize that there are many charities requesting your support. If you’ve supported us in the past, you know that there are many “little hands” in India applauding your support. If this is your first interaction with CRY, we are much honored and pleased that you are considering supporting CRY this year. Our mission is to give each child the gift of a lifetime - a childhood - and we really hope that you will be able to be a part of Uphaar 2008.
